Students of 12th Std. 12th Board’s Annual Examinations will be conducted from July 1, 2021

Ahmedabad: In the larger interest of the students of 12th Std., Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani has today taken a decision that the annual examinations of 12th Std for the science and general streams to be taken by The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board will be conducted as per the scheduled from July 1, 2021, on Thursday.


In view of the prevalent current situation of ‘Corona’ pandemic in the state, after a detail deliberation on conducting the Board examinations for the 12th Std. this decision was taken at a high level meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.


Giving details about the decision, Gujarat Education Minister Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and Mrs. Vibhavariben Dave, Minister of State for Education, said that in total approximately 683,000 students will give their examinations for the 12th Std. Of them, nearly 140,000 students will be of the Science stream and 543,000 students will be of the General stream.


In the meeting, the Chief Minister had given clear instructions to the Education Department to strictly follow the ‘Covid-19’ protocol while conducting the examinations for the 12th Standard, they said.


The Education ministers said that this examination will be conducted as per every year’s established traditional system of Science Stream Part-I for 50 marks with Multiple Choice Type (MCQ) OMR method and Part-II Descriptive Written Form for 50 Marks Examination will be held for 3 hours.


Similarly as per every year’s tradition, the Written Descriptive Form test for 100 marks of the General stream of 12th Std. will be conducted.


The Education Department has also been given instructions to ensure that the students appearing in the examinations maintain social distancing, compulsorily wear mask, and will also follow the ‘Corona’ Transition Control Guidelines such as use of sanitizer, thermal gun, and others, Mr. Chudasama said.


The Chief Minister has also instructed that it should be ensured that during the prevalent Corona situation the examination centre should be nearer to the resident of the students. For this purpose, it was also decided to keep more number of examination centres in the state.


For the examinations of both the streams – maximum 20 students will be allowed in one classroom. Not only this, every examination centre will be equipped with CCTV cameras.


In the meeting, it has also been decided that the students who were absent due to the transition of corona in the examination or the students who were absent due to corona related or any other unavoidable reasons during the examination conducted on 01/07/2021, in such cases a fresh examinations of all the subjects with a new time-table and new question paper will be conducted after 25-days.


The examinations for the repeater students of the 10th Standard will also be conducted in the similar manner, the education ministers added.


The high-level meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Mr.  Anil Mukim, Mr. K.  Kailashnathan – Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief  Minister, Mrs. Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary (Education), Mr. Ashwini Kumar – Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Vinod Rao, Secretary (Education), and Mr. A. J. Shah – Chairman, The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.
